Comprehensive background check helps to identify trustworthy staffs for a firm. Many companies that have never bothered to conduct such verifications have had many problems as they often find themselves with unsavoury characters on their payroll. The problems that such people are likely to cause can be serious and widespread.

Through this practice, many, if not all, unworthy people can be prevented from taking up jobs that others are better suited to take up. It ensures the calibre of people hired is the best. Their honesty and integrity will not only help the company now, but bode well for the future as they will be inclined to hire others such as themselves.

A simple way of determining the integrity of an employee is to verify their resume. Calling the schools listed and companies which he or she has indicated will make things easier for the employer. When performed at the point where new employees are being recruited, the company will have taken the necessary steps to verify the person's integrity and qualifications. Making it standard practice and exercising it every time should help to safeguard the firm from lawsuits that rely on claims that due diligence was not done.

For instance, a facility that houses elderly patients and goes on to hire an attendant with past physical abuse convictions would be likely to see lawsuits coming their way if he assaults a patient. With comprehensive background checks the person would not have been hired. The patients would be safe and the facility's reputation still intact.
