God will never contradict His written Word. So if you do not know the written Word, you cannot possibly hear his still small voice - because you will not know if you are hearing his voice, your conscience or the demons who also whisper to you.
One mistake often made in attempting to determine God's quieter voice in our hearts is to believe that we can rely on his modern-day "prophets" to contact Him on our behalf. And while this may have been true when it came to godly prophets who had the capacity to accurately confirm His Word, there are plenty of false prophets these days who can quite easily lead us astray. Jesus cautioned that they would be quite a few in the last days.
For example, Joel Osteen, the author of " Your Best Life Now" tries to tell us what that might be. But who can define our best life when we are citizens of Heaven? Rick Warren belongs to the Council on Foreign Relations, and his loyalty has actually been purchased by the worldly powers that be.
