The Use Of Concrete Color Pigment

By Jaclyn Hurley

Lately, concrete is increasingly used for making various surfaces. Strength, resilience and durability of this material make it a good choice in most cases. So far, the concrete surface was mainly painted with colored protective coatings, and lately it is considered that the addition of selected concrete color pigment in the process of mixing is a much better solution. This way you can use acid stains and deco gel accents on cement-based floors.

All cement based surfaces may be stamped or patterned, to achieve different effects. It is very easy to do it on site, and if you use color pigments, everything becomes much easier, with much better final results. The great advantage of using this staining technology is that the color is uniform, UV resistant and unchanged, on all areas. Decorative floors such as these can be easily used in interior decoration.

Integrally colored mass allows the use of different polishing methods. It makes it possible to achieve glossy, appealing surfaces you will positively love. There are also very interesting ways of achieving very nice effects, such as one called acid stain. This technique makes this type of floors especially glossy and attractive, perfectly smooth and unrecognizable.

Of course, these powdered pigments are perfect for coloring other similar materials as well, for example stucco and plaster. A wide variety of available colors and shades makes possible to find whatever color you prefer. Premium pigments such as blue green are especially attractive, and just perfect for achieving marble-like surfaces. Combining appealing colors and different polishing techniques really gives very nice results.

Besides being so durable and resistant to weather, stains and other related factors, concrete floors have another advantage no one should ignore. The price is considerably lower. The appearance was a problem once, but now concrete made floors really can look amazingly good. It is quite easy to install such floors, and once the concrete is poured, it can also be textured and patterned on site.

Pouring pigmented concrete based materials on prepared surfaces takes very little time. The professionals you hire will make sure everything is running smoothly, and do whatever it takes in order to achieve your desired effects. After that, it takes some time until everything is perfectly dry, and, in this phase, some maintenance works are necessary.

Pigmented cement-based floors are often used in malls, banks and similar spaces, but they usually look like stone paved surfaces or even marble-made. Unlike with traditionally stained floor, possible damages won't be so visible; thanks to the fact all the layers are equally colored. This makes all preparatory works easier as well, and lowers the maintenance costs in a long run. In fact, these types of floors require very low maintenance.

As with all other construction works, choosing appropriate contractor is essential. Choose reliable, dependable contractors only, and you will be more than satisfied with your final results. Your floors may look amazingly good even if you cannot spend too much money on them. What's even more important, they will remain equally attractive in many years to come, if you decide to use adequate materials.
