What You Need To Know About Physician Coaching

Being a doctor is almost synonymous as knowledge and success. Indeed, most if not all people look up to them and dream to be wearing that white coat themselves someday. There is no denying that doctors are well trained professionals and are expected to be the problem solvers instead of help seekers. But just like common people, doctors have their own frustrations in life and even in their careers. Physician coaching is a great way to provide an outlet for them and most importantly make necessary improvements with their lives.

Numerous medical studies have taken a closer look towards such practice, and results have been surprisingly positive. Although not all doctors are actually in favor of such practice, those that have tried have expressed their agreement to it. Most doctors did not receive proper training about organizational structures and leadership.

This includes problems related to work, professional and personal relationships not were they encouraged to examine or ponder on their own personal, professional and lifestyle goals, needs and desires. Several questions have been raised on what exactly goes on in such activity and whether or not one can choose his or her coach.

Projecting fears, worries and helplessness at all times can result to an unhealthy relationships to oneself, other people and with work. For such instances as well, a doctor may start to be unsatisfied with his work and life in general, and that makes a great impact towards one's performance at work and his personal relationships too.

In addition to that the activity will be able to help you make specific and realistic goals, identify the barriers that inhibits you to reach your goals, develop plans and strategies that could win over your identified barriers. More so, it can also help you gain clarity of your life decisions and surprisingly lower down your stress level .

Indeed, behind the big success, there lies frustrations, fears and sometimes unexplainable unhappiness. This is where coaches comes in, but keep in mind that such practice is not psychotherapy, in fact there is a very big difference between the two. While psychotherapy focuses on psychopathology, diagnoses and treatment, this practice focuses to another.

It looks at life, unfulfilled dreams, balance and challenges the medical doctors to reach their goals. Sometimes, this practice may rekindle the doctors' joy for medicine as sessions may be able to renew their passion towards their profession. More so, it provokes reflection as well as reevaluation of one's assumptions.

More so, this activity involves asking questions which could provoke re-evaluation and reflection of your assumptions, exploring feelings to be able to address your procrastination, ambivalence and hesitation as well as fixing what was broken. It's about making mutual agreement, making changes and making things happen.

Medicine is a life time learning process. Physician coaching can help you face and fight those challenges you have for your profession and with your personal life. There's a vast opportunities that one can actually get out from such activity, being a better doctor is only the beginning.
