A Quality Grapple Bucket Will Make Your Machine Better

By Eugenia Dickerson

Longer life, better productivity, reduction of operating costs, this all begins with quality. If you have debris lying around and do not know how to get rid of it quickly, why not try a grapple bucket. No load is too big or too small for a quality unit.

These machines are built to be very strong and are very wear resistant. Their cylinders are made extra large for crushing power and are made of ultra high tensile steel. The cylinders are 3" bore which is an incredible power for clamping. The steel is used for the claws as well as the side gussets so that the claws are unable to bend when it is in use. The covers are built out of thick solid plates and are then fastened around the cylinder so one solid unit is made.

Useful tools such as these are often used across various sectors of heavy industry and mining to speed up the production process and reduce man hours. These devices also play another important role in that the danger associated with working in these industries is greatly reduced for workers. It is in fact possible to greatly minimize the man power required to perform dangerous industrial activities.

Every forestry company needs to have at least one fleet of these machines. Large trees are cut down and without the help of the right equipment the workers will take a very long time to chop into movable logs. The trees can be easily moved even in the worst weather. Trucks alone will not be effective if they don't have holders.

Whenever there is a disaster of some kind, and huge amounts of debris need to be removed, these machines are called in. If a labourer were to remove everything it could take months, but with these it can be finished in a matter of weeks. Whether the load it is asked to hold is uneven or even of a small nature, it will carry it with no problem. The hydraulic cylinders are made to be flexible and any unequal weight distribution will be corrected. Having this incorporated into the machine it will prevent it from becoming top-heavy which could be a safety hazard as well as extending the life of the machine.

Once the design process has been completed in a specific room, the prototype components are made by various specialist and tradesman. These parts are then further tested to their limits and thoroughly scrutinised, only then can the actual production begin. No short cuts are taken at any stage in the making machines of this nature.

These claws are designed so that any loose dirt or sand can easily fall out leaving the larger of the load to stay behind. The shape of the forks have an important function, these are made so as not to damage any utility lines and cables it might get caught on during a clean-up operation.

Before these machines were invented, work in the forestry industry had to be done by many workers. The production costs where high as well as the cost to life, health and well- being of the labourers. This was indeed one of the most hazardous industries to be employed in. With the development of the grapple bucket the production of raw materials, in more than one industry, has been boosted to previously unattainable levels.
