Simple Pick-Me-Up, Beauty Tips And Ideas Abound

By Sherie Lloid

Improper beauty regimens can negatively affect you, both physically and emotionally. You need to do a lot of basic research so that you don't burn, harm, or irritate your hair, skin, or nails when trying to beautify yourself. There are some tips listed below to help you get started with a beauty regimen that is right for you.

Many women like to use concealer under their foundation. If you've run out of concealer, or can't find it, look inside the cap of your foundation. Liquid and lotion foundations tend to collect and thicken inside the cap and will work well in a pinch as an emergency concealer.

Eyeshadows can be tricky for eyes over 40. Metallic, glittery shadows are beautiful, but eyelid skin develops tiny folds which are, unfortunately, accentuated by those gorgeous metallic colors. On the other hand, some matte shadows look too flat and dry, and do not flatter the eye either. Instead, look for shadows that are neither matte nor metallic: "quietly lustrous" should be the goal.

Don't wash your hair everyday. While many people are in the practice of washing their hair everyday in the shower, the truth is that everyday hair washing is just not necessary. More than that, it can strip your hair of essential oils that keep it from looking dry and lifeless. Wash every other day to keep your hair looking its best.

Wear gloves when you are applying tanning lotions and keep a towel near you. This will help you if you make a mess and to keep your palms from turning orange or tan. You should also make sure to pull your hair back so your tan is evenly applied.

Separate products for softening, protecting, and coloring are no longer necessary! Try using a tinted moisturizer instead of a typical foundation. You can save yourself a lot of time and money buying a lightly tinted moisturizer with a sunscreen to replace the heavier old-fashioned foundations and creams.

Protect your skin from the sun. If you spend a lot of times outdoors, which is a great idea, you've got to make sure you apply sunscreen as much as possible or cover your skin with loose fitting clothing. Sun exposure can lead to an older, leathery appearance that can be hard to repair.

Have you ever had makeup smudges and want an easy way to fix them without re-doing your whole look? Then try a cotton swab and some eye-makeup remover. This way, you can precisely clean up the area you need to re-do when time doesn't allow starting over from scratch.

If you find that the nail polish that you thought was the perfect color is not the color that you wanted when you get it on your nails, consider adding a bit of nail polish remover to the bottle. It will change the color a bit and make it a little lighter.

Use cream cleansers, especially on your face. Soap can dry your skin and lead to skin that appears weathered and older. Keep your skin beautiful by using cleansers that are more like lotion and cream and less like harsh cleaner. Your skin will thank you for the change in beauty supplies.

You've heard it's important to exfoliate, but you don't need to spend a lot of money on expensive loofah bath mitts or scrubs. Any drugstore, grocery store, or dollar store sells inexpensive kitchen sponge/scrubbers (where the rough side is green and the sponge side is yellow). These sponges work great for body exfoliation - but please don't use the green side on your face.

To make your lipstick stay on longer, you need to remember to blot them. You should do this after every single layer you put on, not just when you are finished. This will give your lips a more beautiful and long-lasting color.

To give your hair more volume, consider trying a new haircut with layers. Layers are one of the most effective ways to add volume to fine limp hair. Even if you like to wear your hair long, you can still have your stylist cut long layers into the top for a major volume boost.

To keep your skin smooth, fresh and flawless, make sure you cleanse regularly. If you wear cosmetics of any kind, you should cleanse your skin nightly. Deep cleaning regularly can draw makeup out of your pores and help you keep your complexion fresh. Also be certain to give your skin a break from foundation occasionally.

To get even more mileage out of your favorite eye gel, keep it in the refrigerator! The ingredients in eye gel work hard to restore and protect the delicate skin around your eyes and keeping it cold enhances the refreshment factor ten fold! The cold will also work immediately to reduce that dreadful puffiness!

If you have sensitive skin there are certain things you should avoid doing in order to keep your skin healthy and looking its best. Do not wash your face with regular soap, do not use harsh, overly strong cosmetics, do not use facial masks that dry out the skin, avoid the use of foaming cosmetics and do not use cosmetics that contain fruit acids or alcohol.

If you get caught out in the cold with excessively dry or flaky skin but do not have body lotion or hand cream available to you, consider applying a small amount of hair conditioner. You can use it to add moisture to your hands, elbows, feet, and knees - but never on your face.

While the skin on your face is relatively delicate, the skin all over your body is considerably thicker. Nonetheless, it benefits greatly from exfoliation. Use a body brush with natural bristles to brush your entire body before you enter the bath or shower. This sloughs off dead skin and also increases your circulation.

Improper beauty regimens can be very troublesome, but with some practice, inspiration, and technique, you can make it work for you. It just takes research of the basics and practice to create a beauty regimen that you can easily follow and apply. Do yourself a favor, and try using the above tips to help create your own personal beauty regimen.
