In Ground Installed Fiberglass Pool Prices

By Teri Farley

You've decided that you want to install a pool in your backyard. You've researched your options on the many different types of pools there are as well. Above ground varieties are too small, for what you want. Inflatable style varieties are too cheaply made and are easy to bust. Your decision is to install an in ground fiberglass option instead. The fiberglass pool prices you've looked at seem like a much better deal than using concrete or even vinyl.

Fiberglass pools are among the highest quality options you can choose. They can be customized to fit into any sizes yard, even when the overall layout is a unique shape and the pool won't fit if it is square or rectangular. These things, however, do have an affect on the total cost of such a project.

This is largely why fiberglass options are so appealing to buyers. Even the most uniquely shaped yard can be fitted with an under ground option. Although the finished product might not be large, it can be created to any suitable depth for the home owner. People looking to seriously have a pool installed in their yard definitely prefer this option over the above ground varieties that can collapse easily.

You should begin the search for a contractor to hire with some idea of the cost of such a project. This will help with decision making about any offers you might be given. A contractor is the only person that will be able to provide you with an accurate price for a pool installation. However, you still want to take precautions to protect yourself from overpricing.

You should also get estimates from several different contractors before making a decision. When contractors know you are speaking to more than one company they are more likely to offer discounted prices in order to get your business. Let each contractor know from the beginning that you are getting estimates from several places and will be going with the most inexpensive offer.

Once you have found the best pricing, you should probably attempt to find some reviews of that specific contractors work. A great deal might not be worth it in the end if the person you hire doesn't produce quality work. Sadly, there are scam artists out there that will take your money and then cut costs on the whole project to net themselves a higher profit. What you are left with is a poorly installed product and out a lot of money.

The fiberglass shell, that will be installed in the ground, will be the most expensive piece of this project. A small shell can range in price from about $10,000 to $12,000. Medium sizes are typically priced at around $13,000 to $14,000. The large shells, while everyone would love to have, are usually in the $15,000 to $20,000 range.

The shell prices listed here are only averages. These estimates do not include installation fees or any extra feature you want to add to the project. Fiberglass pool prices have a wide range of variation based on size, shape and added features. Luckily, they do increase property value, however. This means a higher asking price can be placed on a home if it is put on the market after pool installation.
