Basic Pressure Washing Steps Before A Painting Or Repainting Job

By Marla Mills

There are some houses which require pressure washing Alabama. This is the kind of activity which will require the homeowner to use high-velocity water spray for the sake of cleaning any dirt and residue from the house's exterior. This is the type of cleaning that is particularly necessary as a preparatory step for painting or repainting the house.

If the individual needs to do the cleaning, then the first step to consider is the selection of the washer that will be used for this job. Remember, there are numerous varieties to the washer. The individual will need to decide on the washer depending on the housing materials used on the house. This is an important factor one should consider when doing the selection.

If the individual finds the right washer to use for this task, then the individual will need to turn his or her attention to the fixtures that are in the way of the spray. The fixtures should be covered and protected against this pressurized water. Cover them with drop cloths and plastic coverings. Hold them in place using duct tape.

Consider scrubbing any obvious mildew manually. This is the basic consideration that the individual will need to think about. This is also the best way for the individual to avoid having to use the washer too much. The individual should be able to scrub the obvious mildew by using an appropriate scrub.

Try to look for the correct cleaning solution to use for the washers. There is also a proper ration that one will need to follow in order to make the cleaning solution useful for the washers. The cleaning solution, which is usually a non-phosphate concentrated cleaner, will be mixed with several gallons of water.

Pick the right garden hose to use for the said task. The individual will need to secure the connection of the chosen garden hose to the water supply. The other end of the garden hose will need to be hooked to the washer. Once everything is set up, the next step that one will need to do is to turn the water faucet on.

The pressurized water being used for the cleaning should be tested first. Do this by holding the washer's nozzle with two hands for about three feet from the wall. Then, the homeowner has to move in closer to the wall until one already feels that the said spray is strong enough for dirt removal but not that strong to cause damage.

Cleaning should be started from the top. After that, the individual will need to move the spray in a downward pattern. The individual will also have to spray on the available roof overhangs, underhangs, and gutters. Spray on these fixtures in a side-to-side, steady manner.

Plain water is necessary for this kind of cleaning. The individual will be using the garden hose to get plain water into the wall and rinse it. The same when the individual sprayed cleaning solution through pressurized water on the wall, one will need to rinse it in a top-down, side-to-side manner. After pressure washing Alabama, allow the wall to dry from two days before painting or repainting over it.
