The Law Of Attraction

By Marinthe Sijstermans

Did you watch the hit movie called The Secret? If yes, then you might have heard about the best selling self-help book that was written and released later by Rhonda Byrne based on the movie of the same name. Just like film, the tenet of Rhonda's book is that the law of attraction governs the universe. It is said that this natural law works by attracting people, events, situations and experiences which matches the frequency of an individual's feelings and thoughts. With positive thinking and the principles of the laws of attraction, a person could experience life changes which can result in increased wealth, happiness and good health.

As outlined in The Secret, the law of attraction essentially decrees that 'like attracts like'. More specifically, this means that your mindset, thoughts and feelings establish your reality and influence the events that you experience in your life. For example, someone who thinks optimistically will attract positive energy, drawing positive things into their life that is in harmony with them. On the other hand, a pessimistic thinker attracts negative things, as their negative thoughts generating bad results.

In The Secret, the law of attraction is described as a natural law that can determine the order of our personal lives and the universe through a process called like attracts like. This means that our thoughts and feelings send out corresponding frequencies to the universe and this attracts similar circumstances and events back to us. For instance, positive thoughts and feelings will attract positive circumstances and events. The law also claims that if an individual change their thoughts and feelings they could attract desirable outcomes which includes happiness, better health and more wealth. Basically, the law attraction means that thoughts are like magnets so whatever they dwell on will attract similar thoughts back into our life.

Unfortunately, this book is not delivering the complete process that is needed to use the laws of attraction. The information that is missing from The Secret is preventing many readers from getting the desired results after following the principles of the law.

Obviously, the basic flaw is that the Secret compares the Law of Attraction to the Law of Gravitation, which is not the case. Anyone can demonstrate Newton's law, because if you drop an object the acceleration is going to be just as the law predicts. This always works as predicted, which is why it is called a law.

Finally, you must be ready to receive. The ability to accept, feeling great and receive graciously opens the door to unlimited success and wealth. The universe gives to people who are a good receiver. This means that you must keep a positive mindset, feeling deserve to receive and persevere to see the success in each area that you want to manifest in your life.

If you are familiar with the Law of Attraction then you know that this Law is in fact a scientific law stating that "LIKE" attracts "LIKE", so in other words we are like a magnet and whatever we think about in our minds we will attract to ourselves. For instance, focus on something positive and we attract positive things, focus on something negative and we attract negative things. Seems simple enough, so why do so many people struggle with this?

In 2006, with the release of the book, The Secret, I started my journey in learning about and applying the Law of Attraction. Even though it has been six years and the buzz of The Secret has died down, I study something about it everyday. As I listened to people talk about the Law of Attraction, I was soon after introduced to Dr. Thurman Fleet's Stickperson diagram. What in essence Dr. Fleet demonstrated with his Stickperson was that our thoughts, create our feelings, which causes us to act, and that is how we produced our results. The Stickperson changed my life so much I wanted to teach it. But the sources that I thought would certify me to do so wanted between $15,000 to $20,000 to do it. I decided why not go to the actual source and I contacted Dr. Fleet's Concept Therapy Institute.Dr. Fleet's course of study cost me $300 dollars per course of which there were 9 and the teacher's training course. So for a total of $3000 (over time) I was able to learn and teach the same material from the source rather than an "interpretation of the source" and at 70% less cost. I used the Law of Attraction to make this happen.

So what is the Law of Attraction. The best definition I have come across to this date is this: You attract into your life the things, circumstances, and conditions that correspond to the nature of your dominant and habitual thoughts and beliefs in both your conscious and subconscious mind.To consciously experience anything in your life you must really, really desire it - in fact another way of saying it would be that you "need it" Need I believe is stronger than desire. When you need something there is a "purpose" for it. When it has a big enough purpose it becomes a necessity.

You must learn to bring the energy of your thoughts from the conscious mind into the subconscious mind. This is why the need or purpose needs to be so strong. Once there, the subconscious take it and runs with it manifesting itself in the body where action takes place and causes our results.Another way of stating this is called Creative Visualization. It is the basic technique that you positively and effectively reprogram your subconscious mind and attract more things and circumstances that you constantly choose.Study the Laws of the Universe (perpetual transmutation, relativity, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, and gender). I used them in my articles on public speaking. The Law of Attraction is manifest through the Laws of the Universe.
